Closed means the counter is shut, the drop box is not serviced and pickups are not offered. Open on that row applies only to Custom Critical, FedEx’s urgent and specialty shipping service.
Is FedEx open on Thanksgiving Day at FedEx Office stores?
FedEx Office is listed as Closed on November 26, 2026. On holidays like Memorial Day or Labor Day it gets Modified Hours instead. So do not count on a print, pack or ship counter being staffed that day.
Hours vary by store on the other days. Check your own location page before you drive over.
Does FedEx deliver on Thanksgiving?
The schedule says all operations are unavailable on the day itself, and Thanksgiving Day is one of the holidays the FedEx Express terms exclude from business days, so a shipment scheduled for that day is delivered the next business day. Why FedEx Office and FedEx are labeled differently
FedEx Office is the retail and print network. The FedEx column covers the shipping operation, including pickups and drop boxes. The two columns often differ, which is why FedEx Office can be Open on a day when FedEx is Modified Service.
On Thanksgiving both columns say Closed. That is the same status FedEx gives Christmas Day, Friday, December 25, 2026, and New Year’s Day, Friday, January 1, 2027. Our FedEx holidays guide lists the full year.
How the day before Thanksgiving looks
Wednesday, November 25, 2026 is Modified Service for FedEx and Modified Hours for FedEx Office. FedEx defines Modified Service as early pickups and drop box pickups, including drop box closures, in some areas. A drop box you use every week may be emptied early or not at all.
FedEx Office stores marked Modified Hours may close early that evening. For a counter drop off, go in the morning or at midday.
How the day after Thanksgiving looks
Friday, November 27, 2026 is Modified Service for FedEx, and FedEx Office is back to Open. The winter schedule also notes early pickups and drop box closures in some areas on November 27 and 28. An open store does not mean your local drop box runs on its usual schedule.
Black Friday is therefore a good day to use a staffed counter instead of a drop box. Normal weekend coverage is a separate topic.
What to do if you need to ship around Thanksgiving
- Drop the package at a FedEx Office counter on Monday or Tuesday if timing matters. Wednesday is the last full planning day, and it already has modified service.
- Check the last days to ship page on fedex.com for your service before choosing a date.
- If you must ship on Friday, November 27, go to an open FedEx Office location and hand the package to staff instead of leaving it in a drop box.
- Allow extra time for time definite services. FedEx extended delivery commitment times by 90 minutes on select time definite Expedited services from November 23 through January 4.
Say you hand a gift to a counter clerk on Tuesday, November 24, 2026. It enters the network on a normal day. The same package left in a drop box on Wednesday, November 25 could miss an early pickup.
What still works when stores are closed
Custom Critical stays open on Thanksgiving, and customs clearance at the U.S. and Canada land border crossings is available 24 hours a day through FedEx Logistics. Those services are built for urgent freight and border shipments, not for a small parcel from a home sender.
FedEx does not publish customer service line hours or kiosk availability for Thanksgiving in the schedule documents. If a phone line or self service machine is available, treat it as a bonus rather than a plan.
Is FedEx open on Thanksgiving 2027?
Thanksgiving falls on Thursday, November 25, 2027. FedEx has not published its status for that date yet. The 2026 schedule lists only New Year’s Day 2027, which is Closed for FedEx and FedEx Office, so expect the 2027 holiday table to appear later.

FedEx lists all operations as unavailable on Thanksgiving, so plan for it to arrive on another day. Use tracking on fedex.com for the updated estimate. A FedEx Office counter will not be staffed to answer questions or release a held package that day.
You need to pick up a held package
Do not plan a pickup at a FedEx Office store on Thursday. Friday, November 27, 2026 is the first day the stores are listed as Open again. Bring the photo ID and tracking number you would normally need.
You run a small business and ship daily
Treat Wednesday as your last reliable pickup, because Modified Service can mean an earlier pickup in your area. Move the final label creation to Tuesday and tell customers about the gap. A Friday pickup may also run early, so confirm it with your driver.
You have a print or copy job
FedEx Office is the retail side of the brand, and it is closed on Thanksgiving Day itself. Finish print jobs on Tuesday or Wednesday morning. On Friday the stores are listed as Open, but hours vary by store.
Saturday after Thanksgiving
The winter schedule also notes early pickups and drop box closures in some areas on Saturday, November 28. FedEx does not label that day Closed. Check your local drop box before relying on a weekend pickup.

- Open: normal service for that column.
- Modified Service: early pickups and drop box pickups, including drop box closures, in some areas.
- Modified Hours: a FedEx Office label, and some locations close early or stay closed.
- Closed: all locations and operations unavailable for that column.
FedEx does not say that Modified Service stops deliveries. Treat it as a pickup and drop box warning only. The Veterans Day page shows a modified day that looks very different from Thanksgiving.
